Glitch Festival Malta was founded in 2016, making this its 10th year.
The festival is part of Shift & Squadron Events's portfolio of electronic music events.
Glitch Festival is Malta's flagship electronic music gathering, founded in 2016 by the three promoters behind Shift & Squadron Events, who had been running techno and house nights on the island for two decades before taking the leap. It grew from a niche island party into one of Europe's most respected underground bookings, built squarely around Berlin techno, house, electro and bass. Ben Klock has played the most editions, five in total, starting with the very first in 2016, which tells you where the festival's heart sits. The 2026 programme marks the tenth edition, running 12 to 15 August at Gianpula Village in Rabat with over 95 acts across 8 stages. What sets Glitch apart is how it uses Malta itself: an opening party inside the 16th century fortifications of Valletta Ditch, main grounds running until 4am, after-hours at Liquid Club, and boat parties leaving from Sliema Ferry on the closing day. The tenth edition pairs Ben Klock with Rodhad, DAX J with Lars Huismann, and DJ Nobu with Wata Igarashi, alongside KI/KI, VTSS, Quelza and Job Jobse. Boiler Room has broadcast from the festival three times, in 2019, 2024 and 2025, putting Malta on the global techno map.

Glitch has a solid streaming track record through its partnership with Boiler Room rather than its own channel. Boiler Room broadcast from the festival for the first time in 2019, calling it their debut show on the island, then returned for the 2024 and 2025 editions. Each session airs live on Boiler Room's platform and YouTube, then stays up as a permanent free archive with both video and audio versions of every set. The 2024 broadcast, headlined by Ben Klock, aired on 12 September 2024, while the 2025 session featured Setaoc Mass, Benwal, Justin Jay, MIJA and others. Boiler Room runs a free to view model, so all of this coverage has been free.
Held on the small Mediterranean island of Malta, the festival spreads across separate sites: the main Gianpula Village grounds in Rabat, an opening party inside the 16th century fortifications of Valletta Ditch, and boat parties departing from Sliema Ferry.

Ben Klock holds the record for the most appearances, returning across five editions including the first one in 2016, which signals the festival's commitment to Berlin techno.
