UNTOLD is the festival that put Romania on the global dance map. It launched in 2015, the year Cluj-Napoca held the European Youth Capital title, and its first edition pulled more than 240,000 people to Cluj Arena over four August days. That debut took the Best Major European Festival award, the first time a first-year event had ever won it. The festival has grown every season since. By 2024 the ninth edition drew close to 427,000 fans and roughly 250 artists, and UNTOLD landed third on the DJ Mag Top 100 Festivals poll in both 2024 and 2025. The build spreads across eight stages, anchored by the Mainstage and the Galaxy techno stage, with Daydreaming, Alchemy, Time, Tram, Retro and Fortune filling out the rest. The programming runs wide, from trance and techno through house, pop and hip hop, which is how a single weekend can hold Armin van Buuren, Post Malone, Anyma and Metro Boomin. The 2025 tenth-anniversary edition, billed as UNTOLD X, ran August 7 to 10. The 2026 edition is set for August 6 to 9 at Cluj Arena, with Kygo, Flo Rida, Lewis Capaldi, Martin Garrix and The Chainsmokers among the names announced.

Livestream history

UNTOLD has carried a live online stream in recent editions rather than keeping the event purely on site. For UNTOLD X in 2025 the festival told fans who could not attend that live-streaming would be available on YouTube and TikTok, free to watch. The festival also runs an official YouTube channel where full sets and an official aftermovie are posted after each edition, and individual mainstage performances from 2023, 2024 and 2025 are archived there. The 2023 edition was additionally broadcast live on the Ziggo Dance TV channel. Stage coverage has centered on the Mainstage rather than spanning all eight stages.
